As a Clinical Psychologist by training, I have always been fascinated by human nature. I never cease to be amazed by our capacity to create in the face of hardship and adversity.  My clinical work has allowed me to truly appreciate the perseverance of the human spirit.

I studied art during my undergraduate schooling with the intent of practicing Art Therapy in my professional career as a psychologist. My formal training allowed me to use art as a means of communicating with those who did not have the vocabulary to express themselves in words. The arts truly are the universal language!

During the pandemic, I decided to make use of my art training as a form of my own “therapy” and began to practice art again. I took several remote classes initially but was able to work in the studio once the pandemic was over. Upon moving to Wilmington in 2022, I was fortunate enough to discover the Cameron Art Museum and took several classes and workshops from their many gifted and talented instructors.

My exposure to their plethora of classes reawakened my enthusiasm for the arts and I devoted myself to creating art wherever and whenever possible. My passion also allowed me to connect with a wonderful group of local artists who share a love for the arts, and for creativity in various shapes and sizes. To that end, I have been able to display my art in several spaces and studios in Wilmington, including Waterline Brewery, River’s Edge Gallery, The Soda Pop Gallery, Savard Beer and Board, Acme Art Studios, and the 2nd Annual Carolina Beach Mural Fest. I also had my first solo exhibition entitled “Our Better Angels” at the FunkSHUn at the JunkSHUn Gallery in 2024. One of my greatest pleasures to date, though, was having the opportunity to illustrate a short story in the wonderful comic book anthology series, Tales of Cape Fear.
